TREY (pronounced, all caps trey) is a progressive indie pop outfit based in the Midwestern United States. Self-aware, sometimes ironic songwriting around relationships and personal growth lends itself to a sonic blend of programmed electronic-driven music and tight live shows, playing and growing alongside equally energetic, equally-indie bands such as THE WLDLFE and Hardcastle, Jet Black Alley Cat and DBMK.
TREY is an identifying idea of unity in human life that captivates the open-minded listener. Cultivating over 400,000 streams on Spotify, TREY's current repertoire includes two EP releases and a spin-off remix project. August 2017 saw the band's career kick off with the intimate, electronic instrument-driven Wilderness EP, which garnered traction in the independent pop world, beginning on Noisetrade and spreading to offers from independent labels and management organizations.
For the moment, all caps trey is kept busy touring the U.S. to support their new singles, FEEL and Outofline. Radio interviews, premieres on Atwood Magazine, podcast features, and print reviews of the new single define it as the band’s most promising project yet, with searingly desperate lyrics buried under polished, shimmery pop production.
“TREY are growing up, embracing personal experiences, and finding those little sparks of universality that allow us to relate and understand – to feel what they’re feeling. “Outofline” is a mature pop song full of vulnerability and poignant resolution. A somber farewell, the song helps usher in the next wave of TREY’s artistry as the band invite us to fully dwell in their world – a space where emotional conflict is just another part of being human. While we can’t wait to see where TREY are headed, we’re also happy to bask in their current sounds.”
“TREY seems to know what’s what with this thing called love. And in this second single ‘Feel’, the rolling jazzy guitar work drums up the good that comes with the package.”
